Magic softball hits eight scholarships

The Magic softball organization, an all-star travel team based out of (North) Charlotte, now has helped eight of its nine regular players on the U18 team sign national letters of intent to play collegiate softball next season.

The Magic, founded by current Jay M. Robinson softball coach Jim Allen in 1996, currently has three teams from U16 to U18. The U18 has mostly been together since they were eight years old.

The following players have signed at their respective future colleges including:

P-1B Sara Allen (North Meck HS) - Winthrop University
C-P Lauren Beaver (North Davidson HS) - Winthrop University
1B-3B Shelby Holland (West Meck HS) - Newberry College
OF Megan Mabes (Robert B. Glenn HS) - Surry Community College
OF Andreya O'Brien (Ashbrook HS) - Lees McRae
SS-OF Chelsea Varner (Starmount HS) - Mars Hill
(3B Camry Wagner (Robinson HS) - UNC Wilmington
OF Katie Zavodny (Robinson HS) - Liberty
