Hough and Lake Norman, the No. 1 and 2 teams in the I-Meck 4A respectively this regular season, will meet again tonight in the conference tournament title match.
The Huskies defeated Hopewell 25-9, 25-7, 25-8 Tuesday night to move onto the championship. The Wildcats defeated Mallard Creek in a tight 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 27-25) in Tuesday's semifinal.
The I-Meck title game is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. at Hough High.
The Huskies have won both of this season's meetings with Lake Norman.
Tennis dual playoffs get under way
The first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association girls' tennis dual team playoffs was played Tuesday night. Only two of the six Lake Norman area teams that reached the postseason - Lake Norman Charter and Lake Norman High - moved on to the second round, which is scheduled to be played Oct. 23.Here are Tuesday's results (with local teams in bold):

Knights win SPC golf title, Smith is Player of the Year
Lake Norman Charter claimed the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A girls' regular season golf title. The Knights' 829 total strokes put them 90 ahead of second-place East Lincoln (919).
The Mustangs' Brittany Smith was SPC Player of the Year, outlasting runner-up Maegan Ports from Lake Norman Charter with a 198. Ports finished the year with a 203.
North Lincoln finished third as a team with a 935.
