The 4A western regional meet last Saturday featured some of the best talent in the state. A number of Lake Norman area swimmers showed they were amongst the best of the best.
North Meck did the best as a team finishing second in both the boys and girls' to champion Providence.
The Vikings got regional titles from: Linsay Cooper (100 butterfly) and the 400-freestyle relay (Cooper, Molly Sanborn, Kaitlyn Poff, Payton Schrum).
Lake Norman finished fourth in both the boys and girls' regional championships.
The Wildcats got regional titles from: Heather Isetts (100 and 200 freestyle), Haley Powell (50 free) and Logan Heck (100 butterfly and 200 IM).
The Hopewell girls' also finished fifth overall, getting regional championships from: Amanda Rubel (200 IM), Ali Kitchens (100 backstroke), the 200 IM relay (Emily Conway, Rubel, Kitchens and Mary O'Doherty) and the 200 freestyle relay (Conway, A. Rubel, Emma Rubel and Kitchens).
