Husky junior qualifies to state golf championship

Hough's David Sargent (right) was the lone area qualifier to next week's boys' golf 4A state championship. The junior hit a 3-over-par 74 at Monday's 4A West Regional.


Myers Park (293), which won the event, Ardrey Kell (297) and Alexander Central (299) qualified as teams by finishing in the top three. Hough was the area's top finished with a 308 to finish fifth. Mooresville (326) was seventh, while Lake Norman (330) finished ninth.
