NCHSAA volleyball

Hough and Bandys are the lone Lake Norman-area teams that survived the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association volleyball playoffs, as Lake Norman Charter (26-1) and Lake Norman (22-6) were eliminated in their respective brackets.

Lake Norman Charter's loss, to Randleman, in the 1A bracket was the team's first of the season.

Here are Thursday's results (with local teams in bold):

1A

Hendersonville def. Lake Norman Charter 3-2

2A

Bandys def. Randleman 3-0

4A

Watauga def. Lake Norman 3-0

Hough def. McDowell 3-1

Fourth-round games, the sectional championships, will take place Saturday. Hough (26-3) will travel to Boone to face Watauga (21-7), while Bandys (19-3) will play at North Surry (29-2) in Mount Airy for a trip to the state semifinals.
